Q&A Section – Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Thailand Privilege program Is this a visa?
A: Yes, the Thailand Privilege Program is essentially a long-term residence program that includes a special Privilege Entry Visa (PEV), often referred to as the Thailand Elite Visa. It allows eligible foreigners to stay in Thailand for 5, 10, 15, or 20 years, depending on the membership tier purchased, and provides them with a range of exclusive benefits and services.

Q2: Thailand Privilege Card Is this a visa?
A: Not by itself—the Physical Privilege Card is not a visa. Your visa is affixed in your passport. The card is for validating membership and accessing perks.

Q3: What documents are required?
A: At minimum: passport copy, photo, completed application form. Banks or services may request the membership card and visa for verification.

Q4: Can I apply if I’ve overstayed before?
A: No, you cannot apply for the Thailand Privilege (Thailand Elite) program if you have an existing overstay record in Thailand. To be eligible, you must be in compliance with Thai immigration laws and have no overstay record at the time of application. You must first leave the country, clear your existing overstay record, and resolve any potential travel bans before you can apply for the Thailand Privilege program.

Q5: Can I work on this visa?
A: No. Employment in Thailand requires a separate work permit.

Q6: If I have a work permit, can I apply for a Thailand Privilege Card?
A: You cannot apply for the Thailand Privilege Card (Thailand Elite Visa) if you already hold a Work Permit, as Thai law allows for only one type of visa, and work permit holders are not eligible for Thailand Privilege Card (Thailand Elite Visa ) membership.

Thailand Elite Visa Restrictions:

Thailand Elite Visa members are not eligible to apply for a work permit, or if they already hold a work permit, they are not eligible to become members.

Choose one visa:

If you wish to become a member of the Thailand Elite Visa, you must first relinquish your Work Permit.

Q7: What if my passport expires mid-visa?
A: If your passport expires during your  Thailand Privilege Card (Thailand Elite visa), you must get a new passport and then take both the old and new passports to a Thai immigration office to have the remaining visa validity transferred to the new passport. While your visa will be affixed to the new passport for its remaining validity, the Thailand Privilege program (Elite Privilege program) allows for free visa renewal at the program’s expiry, so the visa can be renewed up to the end of your membership term.

Free renewal:

You are entitled to a free renewal of your Thailand Privilege Card (Thailand Elite visa) to match your membership’s expiry date.

Document requirements:

You will need the old and new passports to facilitate the visa transfer process.

Q8: How do I report every 90 days?
A: To report your address every 90 days Thailand Privilege member, you can use the Thailand Privilege offices in Bangkok (Sathorn), Chiang Mai or Phuket by dropping off your documents on Mondays between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM, using the online system, submitting your documents by mail or through an agent, or by contacting the Immigration Bureau office in your area of residence. Eligible members can use these services and the Thailand Privilege office will process your application and collect your passport and confirmation on your behalf.

Q9: If the 90-day reporting deadline has passed, can a member send their passport to the TPC office to make a 90-day report for the member?

A: First, we recommend that you contact your embassy in Thailand or a neighboring country as soon as possible. They will provide further information on what you need to do. In most cases, you will need to go to the police station to report a lost passport. After receiving the report, you will need to use this document to apply for a new passport.

Once you receive your new passport, you will need to send a copy of your new passport to the Member Service Center, as Thailand Elite will need to update your information. The Member Service Center will provide further instructions on how to attach your new Thailand Elite visa to your passport (the 90-day reporting period is essential).

Q10: Can I bring family on my membership?
A: Only Platinum (10 years) and Diamond (15 years) allow family additions, at an additional cost per person. Other tiers require separate applications for each family member.

Q11: How long does the membership last?
A: Depends on tier: 5, 10, 15, or 20 years. Multiple-entry visa validity matches the membership term.

Q12: Can Thailand Privilege Card members open a bank account?

A: Thailand Privilege Card members can open bank accounts with Kasikornbank and Bangkok Bank, as both banks have contracts with Thailand Privilege Card Co., Ltd. Members must book the service in advance through the member service center and notify the branch where they wish to open an account.
